Nar Shaddaa is Announced as Playable
0 CommentsPosted by Jacob on July 30, 2010 under News
While I thought that they had released all of their planets for their release, apparently BioWare has a lot more planned. They announced today that Nar Shaddaa will be a playable area in the game. For those that don't know, Nar Shaddaa is the moon of Hutta and therefore, is very close to the planet. It is a rich and glamorous, yet gruesome place controlled by the Hutts. To give a better idea of th... more. -
What Space Combat Might Look Like

When James Ohlen confirmed space combat last weekend at Comic Con, so many people were excited. One of the main reasons I was so excited about Star Wars: The Old Republic was because I knew, deep down inside, that there was going to be space combat. Whether it was as expansive as other games or if it was more limited, I knew that BioWare would not keep a pivotal part of Star Wars out of the game. ... more. -
Could EA and Live Gamer Agreement Affect TOR

It was announced on Monday that EA had chosen Live Gamer to handle the micro-transactions for EA's games. Specifically, they chose the platform Elements to handle all of the different transactions in the hopes of maximizing revenue. This presents a question for many people who are pumped about Star Wars: The Old Republic, but are not looking forward to the possibility of micro-transactions. Are we... more. -
TOR on a Mac

On a recent journey to the Apple store--my wife was shopping, so I decided to take advantage of the free Internet--I realized that I really found the iMac to be a fantastic machine. And, as I was sitting there enjoying the computer, I realized that I could see myself owning one of these. Except, one thing kept going through my head. Would BioWare release The Old Republic on the Mac or would they j... more. -
Comic-Con: Crafting the Multiplayer Story

Despite the fact the community was unable to get 30,000 people to follow SWTOR on Twitter and to get the hundreds of thousands of needed likes on Facebook, much was revealed today at the "Crafting the Multiplayer Story" at Comic-Con San Diego. And, as I was able to predict, the biggest thing people have been wondering about Star Wars: The Old Republic was revealed today. There will be space combat... more. -
Aliens Won’t be Class Specific

In my perusing around the web, I happened upon an incredibly intelligent and well documented editorial titled Don't Be Surprised if Aliens Are Class-Specific. Instead of commenting on the article, I thought I'd write my retort here because I do disagree with the general thesis. I don't see aliens being class specific because it contradicts so much that BioWare has been talking about for the game. ... more. -
Music and Sound in Star Wars: The Old Republic

While story is important and the combat must be enjoyable, one of the reasons that Star Wars is so enjoyable is because of the music created by John Williams. And, while he is not a composer for TOR, LucasArts and BioWare knew that they needed to create music that really fit with the game. And, they also knew that the sounds needed to sound epic because we can all remember the sound of a lightsabe... more. -
Blood of the Empire: Issue 7

BioWare and Dark Horse released issue 7 of the Blood of the Empire series on Friday and, as always, it is quite an enjoyable. But, I am incredibly biased--I intend on owning every issue of the comics as they are released in comic book form. So, I might not be a good person to listen to, but when it comes to the comics, they just seem really awesome. The description given to this comic is as fol... more. -
The Winners of the Contest Are Announced

Last week, TFAW and TOR Universe put together a contest for two lucky winners to win six issues of the Star Wars: The Old Republic comic. Well, the contest ended at 11:59 PM EST on Friday--last night--and I spent the better part of two hours tallying the results so that I could enter the numbers into a random generator. The way I tallied the results were simple. I went through the entire newsle... more. -
Game Testing Begins

And so the rumors were true! The game testing for Star Wars: The Old Republic has begun. A few weeks ago, I wrote about how there were rumors that the testing had already begun--and it is quite possible that it had--but now BioWare released an update saying that testing was, in fact, underway. While we all knew this somewhere inside, now it is confirmed. What I am finding very interesting about... more.
