I understand that in an MMORPG you need a rich and compelling story to keep the players in the world, and there is no better example of that than the Star Wars universe, but as excited as I am about Bioware’s upcoming MMO, I find myself concerned about their approach to character inetaction and how it affects story.
I understand that Bioware’s track record doesn’t fail them in regards to character interaction, just look at their previous titles with Star Wars: The Knights of the Old Republic, and Mass Effect, both games featuring a fantastic and compelling story that changed with the progression of the character along with the choices that he/she made.
My concern comes from the fact that the games that they have had such success with are single player adventure games, without even a single player companion, let alone thousands of other players sharing the same world. I am just curious as to how they plan on implementing such a deep interaction system and story into a game where, in reality, the life of the individual player is usually nothing special.
The question really comes down to this: Can Bioware really apply their critically acclaimed style of storytelling to an MMORPG? I guess we will just have to wait and see, but if anyone can do it, it would be Bioware, the kings of western RPGs.
