In a release that I had been personally waiting for, BioWare announced on Friday what the two advanced classes of the Jedi Knight were. Before I go into detail about them, let me just start by saying that it’s about freaking time. I intend on playing as the Jedi Knight first and I was a little frustrated with how little was being provided to us. However, BioWare didn’t disappoint and they released the classes. Plus, they did show a little bit more than I had hoped for, but I’m not complaining.
First and foremost, here’s what BioWare had to say about the whole thing:
As part of our ongoing class updates, we are thrilled to confirm the Advanced Classes for the valiant Jedi Knight – Guardian and Sentinel! Whether you want to defend the weak and inspire your allies to amazing feats as a Guardian or learn the art of using two Lightsabers simultaneously to create an intricate web of damage as a Sentinel, the Advanced Class system in Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ will help you customize your character.
First we have the Jedi Guardian. I’m not going to lie, I am really liking that role. You rely heavily on the armor and you run in with your lightsaber to take damage and do damage. I perceive this as the tank for the Jedi classes. This is who will be taking a lot of aggro should there be no Trooper there which is cool.
Then we have the Jedi Sentinel. Since he has two lightsabers as does one of the specific roles of the Jedi Consular, you can expect that this is more of a DPS type of person. However, if I recall correctly, in the E3 demo that they showed us, the DPS Jedi Knight was only carrying a single lightsaber. Perhaps this means that while there are some specifications that they do suggest, you don’t need to follow them to customize your character the way you want.
Another thing that we were shown was one of the companions for the Jedi Knight. It’s the T7-01 astromech droid. Pretty much, if you ever dreamed of having R2D2 at your side, here’s your chance. He’s an interesting addition. Since he is an astromech droid, I don’t understand how he can offer anything in regard to combat, but then again, the description does say, “Although he was originally designed for repair and piloting duties, T7 has accumulated many special modifications, expanding his potential uses on and off the battlefield.” That could suggest some interesting things.
Overall, I am mighty pleased with the updates that they made to the Jedi Knight. I’ll be updating the Jedi Knight page on here to add all of the information and try to expand it some more. I’ll close with a short little video that they showed. Check out that Jedi Knight leading those soldiers. Possible quest? Can’t wait!
If you have an opinion about it, as always, feel free to chime in. Any of my fellow Jedi Knights love this? Want to see other things revealed? Leave a comment and let me know what it is that you’re looking forward to with the Jedi Knight!
