  • What Space Combat Might Look Like 1 CommentsPosted by Jacob on July 28, 2010 under Featured Content, Predictions, Opinion and Analysis
When James Ohlen confirmed space combat last weekend at Comic Con, so many people were excited. One of the main reasons I was so excited about Star Wars: The Old Republic was because I knew, deep down inside, that there was going to be space combat. Whether it was as expansive as other games or if it was more limited, I knew that BioWare would not keep a pivotal part of Star Wars out of the game. ... more.
  • Comic-Con: Crafting the Multiplayer Story 3 CommentsPosted by Jacob on July 23, 2010 under Featured Content, News
Despite the fact the community was unable to get 30,000 people to follow SWTOR on Twitter and to get the hundreds of thousands of needed likes on Facebook, much was revealed today at the "Crafting the Multiplayer Story" at Comic-Con San Diego. And, as I was able to predict, the biggest thing people have been wondering about Star Wars: The Old Republic was revealed today. There will be space combat... more.
  • Aliens Won’t be Class Specific 0 CommentsPosted by Jacob on under Featured Content, Predictions, Opinion and Analysis
In my perusing around the web, I happened upon an incredibly intelligent and well documented editorial titled Don't Be Surprised if Aliens Are Class-Specific. Instead of commenting on the article, I thought I'd write my retort here because I do disagree with the general thesis. I don't see aliens being class specific because it contradicts so much that BioWare has been talking about for the game. ... more.
  • Music and Sound in Star Wars: The Old Republic 0 CommentsPosted by Jacob on July 19, 2010 under Featured Content, General TOR
While story is important and the combat must be enjoyable, one of the reasons that Star Wars is so enjoyable is because of the music created by John Williams. And, while he is not a composer for TOR, LucasArts and BioWare knew that they needed to create music that really fit with the game. And, they also knew that the sounds needed to sound epic because we can all remember the sound of a lightsabe... more.
  • Game Testing Begins 0 CommentsPosted by Jacob on July 10, 2010 under Featured Content, News
And so the rumors were true! The game testing for Star Wars: The Old Republic has begun. A few weeks ago, I wrote about how there were rumors that the testing had already begun--and it is quite possible that it had--but now BioWare released an update saying that testing was, in fact, underway. While we all knew this somewhere inside, now it is confirmed. What I am finding very interesting about... more.
  • The Old Republic Will Be at Comic-Con 0 CommentsPosted by Jacob on July 2, 2010 under Featured Content, General TOR
Now, as a lot of you know, I am a big fan of good comics, especially when they are Star Wars comics. It's because of that fact that we are giving away some comics. After leaving E3 as one of the most highly discussed games, it's time to start looking for the next events. Sean from the BioWare team said that they will be at the Star Wars V celebration. But, even cooler than that is the fact that TO... more.
  • TOR Universe and TFAW Comic Book Give Away 39 CommentsPosted by Jacob on July 1, 2010 under Featured Content, General TOR
Thanks to the incredible generosity of TFAW--Things From Another World--probably the greatest online comic book store, TOR Universe has copies of the upcoming Star Wars: The Old Republic comic books. And, instead of keeping them to read (although it was very tempting), I've decided to, instead, give them away to a couple of readers on TOR Universe. Therefore, I'd like to announce the first contest... more.
  • What Happened at E3 Today – E3 2010 4 CommentsPosted by Jacob on June 15, 2010 under Featured Content, General TOR
To begin with, let me say that E3 has been both amazing and slightly disappointing when it comes to Star Wars: The Old Republic. The only disappointing part was today's G4TV interview where almost nothing new was revealed. But, with some careful dissection, I was able to piece together at least a little speculation. But, we'll get there. I wanted to do a quick wrap up of everything that went down ... more.
  • What to Expect and Not Expect at E3 from TOR 1 CommentsPosted by Jacob on June 14, 2010 under Featured Content, Predictions, Opinion and Analysis
The time has come for E3 2010. Video game producers will try and sell their product--or the idea of their product since they're not released yet--and show people why they should be excited about their game. As followers of Star Wars: The Old Republic, we have been waiting for this day since last year's E3. Last year, we got the amazing Deceived cinematic trailer. We also learned that they were goi... more.
  • A Look at Combat in The Old Republic 0 CommentsPosted by Jacob on April 29, 2010 under Featured Content, Predictions, Opinion and Analysis
In the Star Wars universe, almost no game can really be a success unless there is some intense combat. While KOTOR I and II were great games, it relied entirely on the story because, truthfully, the combat was nothing. Fortunately, BioWare is looking to make combat a serious addition to TOR. In a recent video documentary, they talked about what combat is going to be like in the game. On top of tha... more.
