Could EA and Live Gamer Agreement Affect TOR

It was announced on Monday that EA had chosen Live Gamer to handle the micro-transactions for EA's games. Specifically, they chose the platform Elements to handle all of the different transactions in the hopes of maximizing revenue. This presents a question for many people who are pumped about Star Wars: The Old Republic, but are not looking forward to the possibility of micro-transactions. Are we... more. -
Music and Sound in Star Wars: The Old Republic

While story is important and the combat must be enjoyable, one of the reasons that Star Wars is so enjoyable is because of the music created by John Williams. And, while he is not a composer for TOR, LucasArts and BioWare knew that they needed to create music that really fit with the game. And, they also knew that the sounds needed to sound epic because we can all remember the sound of a lightsabe... more. -
The Winners of the Contest Are Announced

Last week, TFAW and TOR Universe put together a contest for two lucky winners to win six issues of the Star Wars: The Old Republic comic. Well, the contest ended at 11:59 PM EST on Friday--last night--and I spent the better part of two hours tallying the results so that I could enter the numbers into a random generator. The way I tallied the results were simple. I went through the entire newsle... more. -

In a recent interview with Computer and Video Games (CVG), Daniel Erickson, the lead design and story writer, said that The Old Republic would not be coming to the console. According to Erickson, no one down in Austin is working on creating a version for the 360 or the PS3. This information is bound to upset people. Erickson told VCG that, "I can tell you that it's not anything that we've even ... more. -
The Old Republic Will Be at Comic-Con

Now, as a lot of you know, I am a big fan of good comics, especially when they are Star Wars comics. It's because of that fact that we are giving away some comics. After leaving E3 as one of the most highly discussed games, it's time to start looking for the next events. Sean from the BioWare team said that they will be at the Star Wars V celebration. But, even cooler than that is the fact that TO... more. -
TOR Universe and TFAW Comic Book Give Away

Thanks to the incredible generosity of TFAW--Things From Another World--probably the greatest online comic book store, TOR Universe has copies of the upcoming Star Wars: The Old Republic comic books. And, instead of keeping them to read (although it was very tempting), I've decided to, instead, give them away to a couple of readers on TOR Universe. Therefore, I'd like to announce the first contest... more. -
Beta Testing Rumors Suggest This Weekend

A thread popped up on the SWTOR forum that suggested that Beta was going to start, albeit a tiny one, June 25 and was going to last until June 27. In this thread, it's suggested that only about 100-200 people are going to be accepted at this time to do some beta work and that it is going to be an incredibly short beta. What this looks like to me is a beta of the beta. Not quite an alpha, but not q... more. -
What Happened at E3 Today – E3 2010

To begin with, let me say that E3 has been both amazing and slightly disappointing when it comes to Star Wars: The Old Republic. The only disappointing part was today's G4TV interview where almost nothing new was revealed. But, with some careful dissection, I was able to piece together at least a little speculation. But, we'll get there. I wanted to do a quick wrap up of everything that went down ... more. -
Humanizing the Sith

In nearly every version of the Sith--be it from the movies or from the extended universe--they are always an incredibly evil group of people who, with the help of the dark side, cause grief and destruction in pursuit of their overall goal of galactic domination. However, I wonder if it is possible to humanize the Sith and make them more than just this purely evil form. I came across this topic ... more. -
Timeline: Peace for the Republic?

In another update of the Timeline series, we got a little more of the story on what was going on the centuries leading up to the onslaught of the Sith Empire. Specifically, what was it that the Sith were doing while the Jedi were recovering from their Civil War and Revan? Once again, BioWare has created a story that had me on the edge of my seat. There are a few things that really stood out for... more.
