Revan Novel Review

I had completely forgotten that Drew Karpyshyn’s novel was due out and, for whatever reason, I decided to go to his site on Tuesday, November 15th. And quickly, I realized that the book had just come out on sale. The force works in very mysterious ways since I was drawn to look at Drew’s site the day his book was released. Despite that, I bought it and tore through it. On my train rides ... more. -
Subscription MMOs Will Always Exist

In an interview that is separate from revealing new information about Star Wars: The Old Republic, Daniel Erickson of BioWare said that he anticipated a consistent existence of subscription based MMOs despite the fact there was a rising number of free to play (F2P) MMOs out there. "What we've seen repeatedly is that people will pay subscriptions for top tier, best of show quality products (The ... more. -

Over a month ago, Dark Horse Comics released the first issue of The Lost Suns which is a mini-series based on TOR. It’s five issues long and what it intends to do is provide hints about what we might see in the game. While I am an entire month late with this dissection, I wanted to take the time to break it down and really see what clues might be within. What is different about this comic fro... more. -
Companions Kicked From Raids

Since the announcement of companions, I have been hardcore excited about them. And, I have been a huge supporter of them being an integral part of the game. They provide an interesting twist to the story of Star Wars: The Old Republic and, more importantly, they require us to work even harder to make the correct choices. But, one of the things that was really interesting and important was their... more. -

At E3 2010, we learned a lot about what PvP was going to be like in Star Wars: The Old Republic. While I dubbed it a battlezone, a video was released that showed what a little bit of the warzone combat is going to be like. The video, as you'll notice, is posted before. Regardless, I wanted to go into detail about what it appears is going to be happening in these PvP areas. One of the things tha... more. -
Space Combat in Star Wars: The Old Republic

I have been avoiding this topic for a little while because it is one that is difficult for me. Space combat is an integral part of Star Wars: The Old Republic. I wrote about it back in the beginning of the year and then I wrote about it again only a few weeks ago. I was right that they were going to release space combat, but I was incredibly wrong about how they were going to do it. There's a good... more. -
Interview With the Smugglers Union

Since the interview with Animosity-Guild was so successful, I decided that I would do another one, but this time, gear it toward a Republic leaning guild. This time around, I had a head set mic so I didn't sound like I was in a space ship, so I was pleased with how it turned out. As I mentioned in the first interview, this is a new resource I am putting together for members as the game gets closer... more. -

I want to introduce the readers of TORUniverse.com to a new feature that I'll be doing over the next months leading up to the release of Star Wars: The Old Republic. One of the things a lot of people say about playing an MMO is that if you really want to succeed and level up, you need to be part of a guild. They make the leveling easier and therefore you can enjoy the game more. Because of this... more. -
What Space Combat Might Look Like

When James Ohlen confirmed space combat last weekend at Comic Con, so many people were excited. One of the main reasons I was so excited about Star Wars: The Old Republic was because I knew, deep down inside, that there was going to be space combat. Whether it was as expansive as other games or if it was more limited, I knew that BioWare would not keep a pivotal part of Star Wars out of the game. ... more. -
TOR on a Mac

On a recent journey to the Apple store--my wife was shopping, so I decided to take advantage of the free Internet--I realized that I really found the iMac to be a fantastic machine. And, as I was sitting there enjoying the computer, I realized that I could see myself owning one of these. Except, one thing kept going through my head. Would BioWare release The Old Republic on the Mac or would they j... more.
