  • What Space Combat Might Look Like 1 CommentsPosted by Jacob on July 28, 2010 under Featured Content, Predictions, Opinion and Analysis
When James Ohlen confirmed space combat last weekend at Comic Con, so many people were excited. One of the main reasons I was so excited about Star Wars: The Old Republic was because I knew, deep down inside, that there was going to be space combat. Whether it was as expansive as other games or if it was more limited, I knew that BioWare would not keep a pivotal part of Star Wars out of the game. ... more.
  • TOR on a Mac 3 CommentsPosted by Jacob on July 26, 2010 under Predictions, Opinion and Analysis
On a recent journey to the Apple store--my wife was shopping, so I decided to take advantage of the free Internet--I realized that I really found the iMac to be a fantastic machine. And, as I was sitting there enjoying the computer, I realized that I could see myself owning one of these. Except, one thing kept going through my head. Would BioWare release The Old Republic on the Mac or would they j... more.
  • Aliens Won’t be Class Specific 0 CommentsPosted by Jacob on July 23, 2010 under Featured Content, Predictions, Opinion and Analysis
In my perusing around the web, I happened upon an incredibly intelligent and well documented editorial titled Don't Be Surprised if Aliens Are Class-Specific. Instead of commenting on the article, I thought I'd write my retort here because I do disagree with the general thesis. I don't see aliens being class specific because it contradicts so much that BioWare has been talking about for the game. ... more.
  • Will TOR Leave Enough For The Players? 2 CommentsPosted by Chris on June 19, 2010 under Predictions, Opinion and Analysis
So what have we learned from this past E3?  For starters, every player will have their own class based star ship that will serve of their base of operations, much like the Normandy serves in Mass Effect, and the Ebon Hawk served in Knights of the Old Republic.  Also, that each class will follow a basic armor progression that is made personal by the player's ability to choose from thousands of di... more.
  • What to Expect and Not Expect at E3 from TOR 1 CommentsPosted by Jacob on June 14, 2010 under Featured Content, Predictions, Opinion and Analysis
The time has come for E3 2010. Video game producers will try and sell their product--or the idea of their product since they're not released yet--and show people why they should be excited about their game. As followers of Star Wars: The Old Republic, we have been waiting for this day since last year's E3. Last year, we got the amazing Deceived cinematic trailer. We also learned that they were goi... more.
  • A Look at Combat in The Old Republic 0 CommentsPosted by Jacob on April 29, 2010 under Featured Content, Predictions, Opinion and Analysis
In the Star Wars universe, almost no game can really be a success unless there is some intense combat. While KOTOR I and II were great games, it relied entirely on the story because, truthfully, the combat was nothing. Fortunately, BioWare is looking to make combat a serious addition to TOR. In a recent video documentary, they talked about what combat is going to be like in the game. On top of tha... more.
  • Space Travel Likely in The Old Republic 12 CommentsPosted by Jacob on February 11, 2010 under Featured Content, Predictions, Opinion and Analysis
One of the most highly questioned issues in Star Wars: The Old Republic is whether or not there will be space travel. More importantly, there is the wonder of whether there will be the ability to conduct space combat. With the release of Cryptic's Star Trek Online and what appears to be an effective - albeit I haven't played yet - attempt at space combat, it has left some people wondering if BioWa... more.
  • A Look at Tython 2 CommentsPosted by Jacob on January 21, 2010 under Featured Content, Predictions, Opinion and Analysis
As we continue our journey to look at every planet, we move from Balmorra to Tython. Tython is a planet rich in history and has an immense amount of enjoyment and intrigue to add to the game. It was here that everyone who had experienced the forced converged with the hopes of learning a thing or two more about what it was. It was also here that a great war was fought over how the Force should be u... more.
  • A Breakdown of the SWTOR Heads Up Display 3 CommentsPosted by Chris on January 19, 2010 under Featured Content, Predictions, Opinion and Analysis
Over the past couple of months, Bioware has been releasing small portions of gameplay footage, giving the rest of the world a good idea of how TOR will play, and what it will look like towards the time of it's release.  As far as gameplay style goes, it looks like the game will behave very similarly to most other MMO's, combining real time combat with background dice rolls.  With the new gamepla... more.
  • A Look at Balmorra 2 CommentsPosted by Jacob on January 16, 2010 under Predictions, Opinion and Analysis
When trying to win a war, the most important thing necessary to have victory is a consistent flow of weapons and armaments.Without this continuous flow of weaponry, the soldiers on your side will be unable to continue fighting and the advancements made by the opposing side will prove to be your downfall. With this in mind, it was incredibly important for the Republic to keep hold of Balmorra again... more.
