You don’t need a lightsaber if you want to be a hero; you just need to have a lot of firepower to backup whatever you’re about to say.

Throughout the war between the Republic and the Sith Empire, the Galactic Republic’s armed forces fought against the unstoppable Sith Empire. Despite how merciless the Empire was, these brave men and women never backed down until they were ordered to by the Republic’s Senate. Despite this, these soldiers are ready, waiting and willing to put their lives on the line once again for the Republic.

With the Treaty of Coruscant signed, the Republic understands that the time will come when war happens again with the Empire. To ensure that they are ready, the Republic has begun to recruit people from within the ranks of their armed forces. These soldiers are made up of the most elite soldiers in the Republic–an elite Republic trooper.

Troopers and Jedi have good relations despite the Jedi pulling back from the firefight. It can be anticipated that when a Jedi and a Trooper are working together, things are going to be interesting. There can be little failure when these two are fighting side by side.

Trooper in Star Wars: The Old Republic

Typically there is no one standing after a Trooper has walked through an area. However, according to reports, the Trooper is a lethal soldier who gets the job done no matter what. There are two sub-classes of the Trooper:

• Commando: He relies on heavy fire power. Typically, if one of these soldiers has come into town, every single Imperial troop will be dead in one shot.
• Vanguard: He can run in front of every other soldier and very few die due to the advanced armor that they wear. This soldier doesn’t care about his personal life, only the Republic.

It is highly anticipated that the Trooper will fill the role of the tank when discussing PvP; however, there is some believe that he might be able to double as a DPS with some of the firepower he/she wields.

Combat for this class will be powerful. Expect to carry grenades and expect to carry powerful rifles. While you might start off with a somewhat small rifle, by the end of the game, you’ll see yourself walking around with an “All hell is about to break loose” type of gun.

The Trooper is the first and last line of defense for the Republic and they aren’t about to back down. Hoorah!
